I AM writing to you to see if there is any way you can put across the disgust the people of Lydney have with the police over the recent terrible accident in Lydney.

I was a very close witness to this unfortunate event. The paramedics were fantastic and they arrived before people had finished phoning. The ambulance also arrived very quickly as did the fire department.

I was asked by an ambulance man to wait for the police to give them a statement. I waited 40 minutes for the one policeman to arrive. He took my name and address and to date I have heard nothing.

Therefore I was most surprised to read in today's Review that they are asking for witnesses to come forward and ring them on their premium number.

I know that we all have to economise these days but as Gloucestershire ratepayers pay the highest amount in England for our constabulary it would be nice to have some service. This is not the first instance of someone in trouble ringing the police and they have not responded.
