Children at Forest View School, Cinderford discovered just how strict teachers were back in Victorian times.
For three days, pupils were transported back to the 19th century with one of the rooms transformed into a Victorian classroom, complete with strict Victorian teachers.
Headteacher Ben Lyons said: "Many of the children were horrified to find out how strict Victorian schools were.
"The children really benefitted from experiencing Victorian lessons – there was a real buzz of excitement around the school for the three days and many of teachers dressed up and took the role of strict Victorian teachers."
The children were given a taste of 19th century lessons, games and discipline as part of the school's new topic based around the Victorians which will run until the February half-term.
