RESURFACING work on the section of the A48 that has recently undergone drainage work begins tomorrow (Thursday).

The work near Blakeney will take place overnight from 7pm to 6am until next Friday (November 4).

The size of the machinery means its necessary to close the road from Chicknals Lane to the junction with Awre Road at Bullo.

A signed diversion will be in place via New

Road, Blakeney, Blakeney Straits, Barracks to Speech house, the B4226 to Cinderford and the A4151 to Elton Corner.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: “The A48 is a busy key route though our county and by working overnight we can minimise disruption for local people, businesses and commuters. I thank road users for their patience while the work is done.”

Cllr Richard Leppington, local county councillor for Blakeney and Bream, advises road users to allow extra time and plan their journeys in advance while the overnight closures are in place.
