FANCY sailing? If so then members of Lydney's successful yacht club are on the look out for new members – and you don't even need a boat!

"People with or without experience are always welcome. There are plenty of opportunities to crew for members and to learn how to sail first," says membership secretary Susan Pearson.

Reflecting on a great summer of sailing on the Severn, Susan said the weather had occasionally been a handicap.

She said that the club – now 48 years old – had exciting plans for the future including providing improved facilities.

"We are a very friendly club with upwards of 80 members but we would certainly welcome more. Anyone who is interested can contact me," she said.

Members enjoyed a great evening at their recently decorated clubhouse in the old Shipyard House at Lydney Harbour.

Fifteen presentations were made – including a birthday cake for Annabel Dance. The trophies were presented by the commodore's wife, Jeannette Witheridge.
