THE Review is pleased to announce their fabulous competition to win tickets for a meal for two on the Dean Forest Railway.

The Dean Forest Railway runs through beautiful woodland and countryside offering visitors a chance to experience the relaxing pace of a typical country branch line. Although the line has been around since the 1860’s the Dean Forest Railway Preservation Society was formed in the 1970’s to save the line from permanent closure and preserve it for future generations.

Coming up over the next few weeks they are running a Heritage Diesel Train Fish and Chip Supper and a Steam Train Pie Night, both from Norchard Station in Forest Road, near Lydney, where plenty of free parking is available.

Steam Train Pie Night is on Saturday, June 29. Join them for a nostalgic evening tour behind one of their vintage steam locomotives whilst tucking into a pie takeaway supplied freshly cooked by the Ugly Duckling restaurant in Lydney. There are three different types of pie to choose from, one of which is vegetarian and gluten free, and included in the price is a free dessert, which can be chosen on the night. Special priced children’s meals are also available.

Heritage Diesel Train Fish and Chip Supper evening is to be held on Saturday, July 3. Enjoy a relaxing journey along the Dean Forest Railway on board the Heritage Diesel Railcar with a fish and chip supper (alternatives are chicken, sausage or vegi-burger) delivered to your seat. Food is supplied fresh from Frydays of Bream. Special priced children’s meals are also available.

These two events are bookings only, and to book and for further information head over to: www.deanforestrailway.co.uk

The Dean Forest Railway also run other special events throughout the year, including themed days for children such as Thomas the Tank Engine, which has proved to be very popular with youngsters and adults alike.

Standard steam train days are most Wednesdays and weekends from March-November using their fleet of heritage steam locomotives and rolling stock, all restored and maintained by their dedicated team of volunteers.
