I AM amazed by the negativity from certain corners of the Wye Valley who oppose the plans for the Sustrans cycle path from Chepstow to Tintern.

How often are we presented with a plan, that is funded by the Lottery, which will have a positive affect on a large area and its entire population. There is not one individual within the Wye Valley who would not be able to benefit from the plans to construct a safe cycle-walk path from?Chepstow to Tintern.

Having walked both sides of the Wye I know how challenging the Wye Valley walk and Offa's Dyke path are, not only physically but also in that you must be able to read a map efficiently.

The path will also provide a much needed car free cycle route for the area as our roads are extremely dangerous for children to ride on without supervision. When?Tidenham Parish Council mention that they are thinking about the future, then consider the benefits this path will have on the local youth, whom they seem to only think of in a negative fashion. It will provide them a safe area in which to ride their bikes.

I strongly support this path and hope Monmouthshire County Council and the Forest of Dean District Council see the benefits that the path will bring to our beautiful?Wye Valley. – Benjamin Smith, Clarendon?Close, Chepstow.
