A CALDICOT man who did not care properly for the snake and lizards he owned has been banned from owning any animals for three years.
Shane Robert Harris was prosecuted by the RSPCA for failing to provide for the needs of a cornsnake, plated lizard and bearded dragon and for causing unnecessary suffering to the plated lizard.
Harris, of Cae Mawr Road, admitted the offences when he appeared before Abergavenny magistrates' court.
The 34-year-old was also ordered to pay £2,515 in costs and given a deprivation order meaning he had to give up the animals. He was also given a disqualification on the three reptiles.
RSPCA inspector Nicola Johnson said: "I am thankful that the result will at least prevent other animals from suffering at the hands of the defendant for a while at least."
