IT all came together for the Coleford Carnival of Transport on Monday (April 17) to make a huge success for the 20th event.

Thousands of visitors converged on the town centre where there were some 500 exhibits from small, stationary engines to a mammoth military, six-wheel recovery vehicle.

Carnival chairman Gareph Boxley said: “It was a fantastic day with a super crowd and the weather played its part.

“Many of the exhibitors are old friends of the carnival and there was a wonderful range of vehicles.

“It couldn’t happen without the help of the marshalls and we are particularly grateful to the riders’ section of the Royal British Legion and the Coleford branch of the Legion who helped with the parking.”

Among the stand-out exhibits was a Railton – a similar model held the world land speed record at one point.

The carnival is organised by a committee of nine who will soon meet to discuss what went well and what could be improved and planning for the 2018 event will start after the summer holidays.
