IT grows better and better...Lydbrook's third church flower festival at the weekend proved a match for those that had gone before and was heralded as another outstanding success.

This year's theme was 'Milestones of 2012' - with each of the 20 displays celebrating the many different anniversaries which fall during the year.

These included momentous events like the 30th anniversary of the Falklands War, alongside the 20th anniversary of the worldwide web and Barbie Doll's 50th, as well as displays commemorating Lydbrook's sporting heroes.

The festival is an important fund-raiser for the church.

Each year members must raise £30,000 to cover costs. It is hoped the festival will match last year's total of over £1,000.
