TWO days ago I received a bright shiny booklet entitled "Your new waste service explained". I have no idea how much this cost to produce, or how many "man hours" were expended, but it seems a poor example of an information leaflet.
It would appear that there are some glaring omissions.
There must be hundreds of homes in the Forest that use traditional open fires, either Aga, Rayburns, woodburners etc. Has any provision been made for the disposal of hot ash? Far from it. In the FAQs at the end of this leaflet it states that we will not be able to use traditional (metal?) dustbins in the future.
In light of the above, I have some FAQs of my own.
• What do we do with the hot ash?
• When the supplied compostable bags for food waste run out, how much will replacements cost?
• How much has it cost to provide three additional bins to every household?
• What arrangements have the council made regarding the collection of redundant green waste bins? (I for one will not be paying £26 a year for this service).
So, Forest of Dean District Council, some answers please.
