OUR report last week "It's a long way down" (page 34) about Nicole Ball and Richard Standerwick making a parachute jump to raise money for Leonard Cheshire Disability charity wrongly stated that Nicole's sister Kirsty, who has been in a coma, had died.

Kirsty is in fact alive but she remains severely brain damaged after suffering from anorexia, and the sky-jump was part of the Ball family's drive to raise awareness if this condition and the fact that there were no facilities in Wales for treatment when Kirsty fell ill.

The Review deeply regrets any distress our report may have caused family and friends and apologises unreservedly for the error to all concerned.

The parachute jump takes place on Saturday and anyone wishing to contribute to the Leonard Cheshire organisation can do so by calling 08450 552195.

The family's campaign has led to a project to launch a Beat (Beat Eating Disorders) helpline (0845 634 1414) and centre in Wales.
