A TEENAGE fund-raiser has completed a May challenge for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution at the lifeboat station in Portishead.

Arthur Dennant has spent the month running, cycling and scooting the distance from his home in Bream to the station.

Fourteen-year-old Arthur and his friend Robin Comben, who has also been taking part in the challenge, crossed the line in Portishead on Saturday (May 29).

They were met by members of the Portishead lifeboat team who thanked them for their efforts.

The boys have so raised £640 between which is enough to kit out a member of a lifeboat crew.

Adam Pentney, chairman of the Gloucester and Forest and Dean RNLI fundraising branch, said: “This is a brilliant effort from Arthur and Robin.

“It looks like being a very busy summer for our lifeboat crews and beach lifeguards – please stay safe around the water as you enjoy the good weather.”

Arthur and Robin are still taking donations which can be made by visiting www.themaydaymile.mil.org/fundraising/arthurs-fundraising-page
