THE National Assembly has approved a scheme for the refurbishment and remodeling of the old Market Hall building in Monmouth.
The building currently houses Monmouthshire County Council's One Stop Shop and the Nelson Museum and History Centre. The approval notice allows for the ground floor and first floor to be amended to provide adequate office provision and generally improve the existing first floor offices.
The main refurbishment is to be carried out on the 1960s Donald Insoll addition to the building, which replaces the part of the building that had been destroyed by fire.
As part of the refurbishment works, Monmouthshire planners agreed at their recent committee meeting that the existing extractor to the Chinese takeaway directly below the first floor offices can be replaced with a new extractor, which will take the fumes above roof level and prevent any cooking odours from entering the office.
