A FOREST of Dean primary school has been recognised for the progress its pupils have made in reading, writing and maths.

Forest View Primary in Cinderford has been put in the top 10 per cent of schools nationally, with children progressing ‘significantly higher than the national average’ according to Schools, Students and Teachers (SSAT) a network of school leaders and teachers across the country.

Head teacher at Forest View, Ben Lyons, says: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this prestigious award from the SSAT, which is not only a reflection on the hard work of our staff and students but also the incredible support of parents and the wider community.”

Sue Williamson, Chief executive of SSAT, says: “It’s a pleasure to commend Forest View Primary School on their excellent 2015 performance, and to have the opportunity to highlight and share their great work at the SSAT Educational Outcomes celebration event.

“I visit a lot of schools and I am always impressed by the creativity of teachers in engaging and inspiring their students.”

Some 92 per cent of pupils at Forest View achieved Level Four or better in reading, writing and maths combined placing it as one of

the highest performing schools in the area.
