A BANNER made by Severnbanks School children is being displayed at the 1st Batallion the Rifles base in Afghanistan.
The soldiers have displayed the banner in the cook house and say it has been given pride of place.
It was designed by pupils in years five and six and includes the names of all the battalions within 1 Rifles and the names of the pupils.
None of the children have direct links with the army, but head teacher Pam Howell said she felt it was important for them to learn about world events and the impact they have on the local community.
Soldiers from the Rifles came to the school last year to talk to the children about careers.
Mrs Howell said: "The children at Severnbanks School were delighted to see the photographs from Afghanistan and as a school we are keeping a close eye on any news from there.
"We have enjoyed the talks and discussions from the soldiers and wives on their visits and will be continuing our links with them."
