A 60TH birthday party for the vice chairman of Blakeney Royal British Legion has raised £1,000 for 1st battalion the Rifles.
Instead of getting presents from his friends and family, he asked party-goers to make a donation to the Rifles wristband fund.
He also suggested that members gave the proceeds from their Sunday meat prize draw to the Rifles.
Mr Jeynes said: "I have always been involved with the forces and joined the British Legion in 1974.
"The members want me to carry on raising money through the meat draw – we have got to give something back to the Rifles for all they do for us.
"They are doing a good job, but they will need even more support in the years to come."
Captain Leo Sayer of the Rifles said: "We would like to thank the British Legion in Blakeney for their very generous donation and the support they have shown to 1 Rifles.
"The money will be used to assist injured soldiers and their families, both during and after the conflict in Afghanistan."
