EVERY three months Bishopswood Hall committee cook and invite along local residents to raise funds and this month’s meal had a topical twist.

Sunday’s (June 19) lunch celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday.

Committee member Monica Edmunds helped organise it and told the Review: “We had 90 people this time which is an amazing turnout. We decorated the hall and some people came along dressed in red, white and blue.

“Local resident Joy Gregory is 91 years-old and agreed to dress as the queen. We have a throne we use for plays and she thoroughly enjoyed it.

“As well as a main course of roast gammon and vegetables, committee members brought along puddings which went down very well.

“We had a singalong of all the old songs and we all had a great time. It was hard work and a very long day but it was lovely to see it so well- attended.”

Anyone who wants to attend future lunches can contact Monica on 01594 860303.
