THE Balmoral is making three calls to take on passengers at Lydney this year for trips down the estuary to Ilfracome – a visually exciting trip on one of our most iconic vintage pleasure steamers.
Bookings are now being taken and anyone getting a ticket before April 15 will enjoy the trip at last year's fares.
Balmoral was built in 1949 in Southampton. She has had many roles in life including a car ferry and a restaurant.
Last year Balmoral was awarded £50,000 from ITV's People's Millions for the refurbishment of the Britannia Lounge. This work has been taking place over the winter and is scheduled to be completed in May
The trips leave on July 2 and August 16 and 31 from Lydney Docks. Passengers can enjoy a grand day trip sailing along the spectacular Exmoor coast to visit Ilfracombe in Glorious Devon or they can enjoy the afternoon in the Victorian seaside town of Clevedon. There are also special fares for Senior Citizens.
Captain Andy O'Brian says: "There is no better way to spend the day than relaxing on deck and watching the spectacular scenery slip by.
"These leisurely cruises provide a chance to view parts of our unique coastline from a different perspective. The ship itself tells a story about how past generations enjoyed their leisure time."
Balmoral has excellent onboard facilities including a restaurant, two bars, heated lounges and a souvenir shop.
Children under five travel free and ages 5-17 travel at half the adult fare. There's a 10 per cent discount for groups of 10 or more. Call the Booking Office on 0845 130 4647 or find out more and book online visit http://www.waverleyexcursions.co.uk">www.waverleyexcursions.co.uk
