FOREST MP Mark Harper says he is concerned about anomalies in cross border health services between England and Wales.
He was responding to a Commons select committee report which slated what it called the government's failure to resolve commissioning and funding arrangements for English and Welsh patients across the border.
Mr Harper said: "In my constituency there are around 5,000 people who use a GP registered in Wales. As a result of this they can experience very different health services from other people using GPs registered in England.
"Two people living in the same street could get very different health care. English patients registered with Welsh GPs are subject to Welsh clinical and commissioning rules, even if they are treated in English hospitals.
"This has led to confusion and complexity in the system among healthcare providers and patients alike."
There have been temporary arrangements in place since 2005, but the committee said this is causing confusion with hospital administrators and doctors.
Mr Harper continued: "This situation is unacceptable. The Government's failure to introduce a permanent protocol has caused numerous problems for my constituents.
"I have been pressing health ministers since I was elected to get this matter sorted and they have still failed to do so."
