LYDNEY'S 13th annual model railway show held at the town's Whitecross School at the weekend proved another big success.

Eighteen layouts were displayed by members from the Forest of Dean Model Railway Club based at Drybrook, and the Lydney Modellers Club who meet at Aylburton.

Displays included a section of the South Wales line at Gatcombe, near Lydney, which followed Brunel's design when the track was broad gauge. There was also a local layout by Forest and Lydney members which included buses and lorries.

The show was jointly staged by the two local clubs and attracted an attendance of over 400.

Organiser Paul Lansdell said plans were already confirmed for next year's event.

"We would like the show to include all types of model-making not just railways," he said.

Mr Lansdell said both clubs would welcome people interested in model-making at whatever level. Further details are available from him on 01989 750612.
