FEEDBACK from local people has led to improvements in the number 35 bus service between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, according to Gloucestershire County Council, with a new timetable that began on Monday.
The service, which makes approximately 2,000 journeys a month, is one of the most popular in the Forest.
Cllr Nigel Moor (Con, Stow-on-the-Wold), Cabinet member for fire, planning and infrastructure, said: “Service 35 is being improved to make sure it runs on time and is reliable for everyone who uses the route. The new timetable will also improve connections with other bus services in Coleford.
“We’ve listened really carefully to what people in the Forest of Dean have told us and I’m pleased we’ve found a way to improve such a popular service as the 35.
“The county council made changes to subsidised services in the Forest of Dean last year. The cost per passenger of subsidising some of these services in this way was up to £15.76 per passenger per return journey, so changes had to be made to make them more affordable.
“We need to make sure our bus services are as efficient as we can, because that helps us protect vital routes across the county.”
