A HUGE line of taxis followed the hearse of popular cabbie Tony Barnard from Lydney to his cremation and funeral service at Yew Tree Brake.

The tribute was paid by Mr Barnard's fellow drivers from First Red Cars in Chepstow, where his boss Dave Edwards described him as "a real gentleman".

"He was extremely popular with both his colleagues and his customers as an honest, trustworthy and very loyal man," said Mr Edwards, who had worked with Mr Barnard for the past six years.

He shut down the entire operation for five hours to allow anyone who wanted to attend Mr Barnard's funeral to take their cabs to Lydney to drive to the crematorium.
