IT'S not every day that you receive a letter with a Buckingham Palace stamp on the envelope – but that's exactly what little Caitlin Newman had last Thursday.

The seven-year-old from Drybrook "adores" Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge and so decided to write them a letter while she was at her grandparent's house.

Mum, Amy Newman said: "Caitlin wanted to congratulate the couple on their pregnancy and wish them luck with the baby. She told them about her younger sisters and invited them round to meet them. It's all so sweet."

Caitlin sent the letter on the day of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and didn't expect to get a reply but within three weeks she came home from school to find an envelope with her name on it from St James's Palace.

Her mum added: "Caitlin couldn't wait to get home when I told her that she has a letter from the palace. She burst through the doors and was over the moon to have a response. The letter had been written by the secretary who acts on behalf of the couple at the office of TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and HRH Prince Henry of Wales. But this didn't bother Caitlin as the St James's Palace headed paper made it look official. The letter thanked Caitlin for her kind words and picture that she drew of the couple on their wedding day.

"Caitlin looks up to Kate and thinks of her as a real-life princess which is every little girl's dream. She received a souvenir postcard of the couple on the red carpet at one of their public appearances – which Caitlin thought was fantastic. All she wants to do now is take it to school and show everyone, before it takes pride of place in her bedroom."
