CHEPSTOW Rugby Club is starting a recruitment drive for keen young rugby players of all ages for its World Cup season – especially girls.
"We want to begin a training structure for girls – and we believe we will be the first club in this area to do so successfully," said Ray Taylor, who is in charge of recruitment.
The club is opening the season with the recruitment and fundraising drives, starting with a car boot sale at the club HQ in Lower Western Avenue, Bulwark. They will also be entering a float in Chepstow}s carnival procession to promote the club.
"We're very keen to attract youngsters to build up the squad at all levels," said Ray, adding that they also held seven-a-side matches and touch rugby games for the young players to sharpen their skills.
The club holds training sessions on Fridays starting at 6.30pm and on Sunday mornings at times to be advised. Food is provided after matches, kit is free and there is usually help with transport to and from matches.
Anyone who is interested or who has a child interested in rugby can ring Ray on 01291 620326.
