LOCAL businessman, Nick Taylor, and his daughter, Lou, ran the London Parks Half Marathon last Sunday in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Novice runner Nick, after a few drinks one night with his children, decided to sign up to run and rather reluctantly embarked on the training regime to get him in shape.

"I nearly backed out until I saw that a good friend had been the first to donate a generous £50 to my JustGiving page. It was then I knew I couldn't back out and I am very glad now that I didn't."

Finishing the race in a very respectable time of 2hrs 24mins Nick is sure he will keep up with the running.  "I have a good level of fitness now and it makes such a difference. I wouldn't say no to another race."  Nick and Lou are hoping to beat their target of £2000 this Saturday at the Lea Village Hall Jumble Sale organised by Lou, "Everyone has been donating jumble for the last few months.  It's going to be huge so come and support us."  Doors open at 10.30am this Saturday (October 16) and donations of jumble and cakes will be very welcome, call 01452 830773, 07875740587 or 07866 250177  if you are able to help.
