CARERS from across the Forest had some well-deserved ‘me time’ thanks to Crossroads Care.
Crossroads Care Forest of Dean and Herefordshire – which this year is celebrating its 20th anniversary – held a ‘pamper day’ for carers at the Methodist Church in Cinderford with a range of relaxation treatments and the opportunity to chat with others who also care for loved ones.
Among the carers who attended the day was Judith Wells of Lydney who was full of praise for the initiative.
She said: “It really has been a pamper day and it’s been really lovely.
“When you become a carer your life changes hugely and so having the opportunity to come to something like this is very welcome.”
Crossroads, a specialist charity and not-for-profit organisation which provides practical help, support and social opportunities to carers and those they care for, will mark the anniversary with a number of community events.
On Friday, July 15 carers are invited to a meal at the Orepool in Sling and on Saturday, August 13 there is an afternoon of entertainment and refreshments at the Bethel Tearooms in Littledean.
The celebrations continue in September with an afternoon tea at the Wilderness Centre in Mitcheldean where carers and cared for will be joined by a number of partners to celebrate all that Crossroads does for carers.
