FIVE floats and decorated breakdown trucks took centre stage at Caldicot Carnival on Sunday (June 26) along with six walking groups.

The event was organised jointly by Caldicot Events Committee and Caldicot Town Team.

The procession was led by the Carnival Queen and King who were 10-year-old Lauren Wallis who attends Durand Primary School and Rhys Martin, aged eight, a pupil at Ysgol Gymraeg y Ffin.

They were driven in a Bentley by Mr Shabaz Ali and passed cheering crowds.

Chair of Caldicot Town Team, Aaron Reeks told the Review: “We had a great turn-out with around 2,000 people lining the streets between the King George V playing fields and Caldicot Castle and then enjoying the entertainment afterwards.

“Floats took part from Caldicot Second Cubs, Chepstow and District Round Table and Sudbrook Football Club. Chepstow Recovery followed the procession with their trucks.

“It went really well and we’re really pleased. The marquee this year made a real difference as it rained in the afternoon.

"It meant people could stay dry to watch musical performances from Caldicot’s Bad Reputation and Ben Baker as well as displays from Caroline Graham School of Dance, Powerhouse Dance, Wye Gymnastics and Galaxy Cheer.”
