YOU would have thought Hallowe’en was over but spooky things are happening at a Lydney charity shop – every time a HGV drives past it.
Staff and volunteers of Age UK, on the corner of Newerne Street and Forest Road, believe the window crack (pictured) is due to the building ‘moving’ when lorries turn in and out of the junction.
Manager Val Thomas said: “The building is very old and we believe that heavy goods vehicles are having an affect on the structural movement which is consequently causing the windows to crack.”
The junction is a popular route for lorries of all sizes transporting heavy goods.
Val added: “The window is being replaced but no doubt it will have to be replaced again, especially as winter is fast approaching.”
The Review asked Age UK if it was looking at a long-term solution, but nobody had responded by the time the Review went to press.
