A FUNDRAISER without a cause says she is desperately seeking a charity to benefit from the proceeds of her horse shows.
Former Olympic reserve team rider Gail Rawlings of Bream started holding charity novice horse shows in Bristol in 2000 and has raised over £90,000 for charity.
She recently moved to the Forest and would like to continue with her fundraising in this area. She says each show raises between £4,000 and £9,000.
Gail said: "I have been putting up posters asking people to nominate a charity, but so far no one has come forward.
"I have put on 23 shows in eight years and raised somewhere in the region of £90,000 for local and national charities as well as supporting local projects.
"I would like the money to go to a Forest based project, but would welcome applications from playgrounds, churches, football clubs...any group that needs money."
Entries have been coming in from Bristol and the Cotswolds as well as more local riders, but Gail would like the proceeds to be donated to a Forest cause.
She is considering pledging the money to the Air Ambulance if there are no other suggestions.
Gail said: "I am very lucky as I have had a wonderful life with animals, but I realised when I was living in Bristol that there were lots of youngsters with horses and ponies that couldn't afford or didn't have the confidence to join a riding club.
"There was nothing for them to do apart from trekking round busy roads, so I decided to organise the event to give them something to do."
Gail's daughter Kirstie, 9, rides in the shows and Gail hopes she will follow in her footsteps.
The first event will be on Sunday, April 19 from 9.30am.
There will be classes for children, mature riders, ponies and thoroughbreds and there is a £100 prize for the show's champion of champions.
Speech House has given free use of their field for the event and the judges are also donating their time for free.
Gail is also looking for a PA system to rent at minimum cost or to be lent to her for the day.
