STAFF and volunteers at the Opportunity Box charity shop in Coleford are appealing for information after a charity tin containing £30 was stolen from their shop.
The shop, which raises funds on behalf of the Children's Opportunity Centre in Coleford, was broken into overnight on Friday, September 5.
Fundraising and marketing co-ordinator at the centre, Louisa Davies, said staff were 'horrified' to discover the charity shop had been broken in to when they opened up the next day.
She said: "The staff found the intruder had broken in through a window at the back of the premises and then removed the window of a locked interior door to get into the shop. Fortunately, the contents of the till had been banked earlier on Friday, but a nearly full charity tin on the counter had been forced open and emptied. The charity has also had to repair the damage caused during the break to secure the premises.
"The shop is an essential part of the fundraising needed to ensure that the charity can continue to provide its wide range of valuable services."
Louisa added: "The staff and volunteers are angry and disappointed that the shop was targeted and appeal for anyone with any information to come forward."
