TO the callous lowlife who dumped a dozen or so chickens on the roadside near Bailey Lane End on Tuesday – how do you sleep at night? In fact, how do you sleep at all when you are the biggest chicken who didn't face up to your responsibilities and duty of care to your hens.
Praise indeed to one lady for her sterling efforts trying to catch the hens and thanks to a few passing neighbours who stopped to help. Congratulations to the hens that were caught as they now have a chance of a new life with the kind-hearted people who took them in.
Commiserations to the four hens that fled. I hope their deaths were relatively quick and painless as the fox must have dined well by now.
Some of the hens weren't in the best of health, so the callous lowlife wasn't even looking after them properly.
So if you know of someone who has mysteriously 'lost' a dozen hens, don't believe whatever story they concoct to explain their disappearance. I would urge you to report this despicable person, as they should not be allowed to have any animal in their care.
