PUPILS at a Chepstow school have been left heartbroken after their nature area was attacked by vandals.

The thugs broke into The Dell Primary School grounds and targeted the nature area which is a much-loved feature with the school’s pupils.

Headteacher Steve King said: “They pulled bird boxes off the trees and chucked them in the pond, kicked the gate off and put pipes and a plastic oil drum

“It is such a shame as our Parent-Teacher Association has worked hard – including many man hours digging – and funded a lovely seating area there.”

The upsetting attack came just days after the school had received the good news of an award for what it provides for children, particularly those of higher ability.

The Dell is one of only three schools in Monmouthshire to be awarded the National Association of Able Children in Education’s challenge award.
