A CHOIR hit the right note by raising £5,245 for charity from concerts, sporting challenges and a table-top sale.
The huge sum was presented to the Cardiff Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association by Caldicot Male Voice Choir, who have a proud tradition of raising funds for deserving causes.
In addition to its concert fund raising, the choir’s cycle and golf clubs held a series of events, including an endurance ride around Redwick, a 200-mile cycle ride from the source of the Severn to Caldicot over three days, a golf tournament at St Pierre and a table-top sale.
The cheque was presented to Tannwen Saunders, local representative of the MNDA, by choir members on Tuesday, March 28, during a break in rehearsals at the Choir Hall by choristers Anthony Griffiths, Chris Nolan, Grahame Morton, choir chairman Mark Stocker and president Michael Shere-Massey.
Tannwen said: “We are extremely grateful to all the choristers for all their tremendous efforts and the money will be used to support the needs of local people in south-east Wales who are suffering from this dreadful disease.”
This year the choir are supporting the Severn View Open Doors project in Chepstow, in association with Dementia UK, to provide funds towards a garden to be used by sufferers of dementia.
