NINE years-old Christopher Preest made his cricketing debut for Bream on the weekend and won the biggest cheer of the day by taking a wicket in his opening over.

The little leg spinner claimed his victim with a beautifully flighted ball which the Upton St Leonards batsman thought to be passing harmlessly down the leg side.

"Instead it took out his leg stump. It was a brilliant occasion as about 40 people were watching and they gave Christopher a massive cheer," said Bream's Fred James.

A dedicated cricket fan, Christopher has been Bream's regular mascot for four years and was playing his first full game on Sunday.

He returned impressive bowling figures of 2.3 overs, two maidens, one for one.

"Christopher also fielded very well. Unfortunately he did not get to bat as we won the match but he played his full part and no doubt he will remember his first wicket for many years to come," said Mr James.
