SCIENCE lessons at English Bicknor School have been extra fun this term as pupils have been learning about space, gravity and friction.

To create a buzz for their young scientists, the Year Four, Five and Six pupils worked with a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) works engineer, using the new Lego WeDo robotics kits.

The pupils had to think like engineers and computer scientists in order to complete a series of engineering and computer programming problems.

This was followed by a whole school visit to the science museum, @Bristol. Here they took a journey through space in the 3D planetarium; visited each of the planets in our solar system and the asteroid belt – seeing actual images of the surface of some of the planets.

Pupils studied the constellations and were given tips on how to spot stars at night. The younger pupils used robotic arms to move objects, so they could experience being an astronaut.
