THE Cobalt cancer support charity which works throughout the county says it is moved by the large numbers of Forest people who have made them beneficiaries in their wills.

"Residents of the Forest of Dean have long been great supporters of Cobalt and their work in the county," says a spokesman.

"During the last five years Cobalt has been remembered in the wills of supporters from villages and towns across the region including Drybrook, Cinderford, Lydney, Littledean, and Newent.

"Gifts left to the charity have been significant and have made a great impact on what Cobalt has been able to provide to help local patients with cancer and other life-limiting conditions.

"It is with thanks to one Forest resident (who preferred to remain anonymous) that Cobalt has been able to provide Gloucestershire women with a designated centre for breast cancer screening and symptomatic work. The clinic at Thirlestaine Breast Centre in Cheltenham was one of the first in the country."

Legacy officer for Cobalt, Zena Giles said: "We are very grateful to so many Forest folk for remembering Cobalt in their wills. Legacy gifts like theirs help Cobalt continue to give the very best cancer support to local people, like you and your family, when it's needed most."

Solicitors in Lydney, Coleford and Cinderford have signed up to support Cobalt's second will month and also people in their local community, during April.

They will be providing their services for free, making or updating a straightforward Will in return for a donation to Cobalt. There will be no obligation to leave a legacy gift to Cobalt but they hope that you will choose to do so, thereby supporting their local work into the future.

If you need to update or make your will and would be interested in taking advantage of Cobalt's Make a Will Month throughout April or if you would like to discuss leaving a legacy gift to Cobalt, call Zena Giles on 01242 535922 or email [email protected]">[email protected].

She can send a pack with the free voucher you will need in order to participate in the Make a Will Month scheme and also a full list of participating solicitors.
