FOREST of Dean District council has extended the period for comments and observations on the draft Coleford conservation character appraisal for a further six weeks until October 18.

The extension follows representations from Coleford Town Council and others, together with views expressed at a well-attended public meeting held at Coleford Community Centre.

Bill Cronin, conservation officer for the council, said it was important residents felt the district council was listening to their views.

The draft character appraisal had raised important issues and some concerns amongst residents, particularly in those areas identified as possible extensions to the existing conservation area.

A circular letter is being prepared and delivered to all properties within the existing and proposal conservation area and consultees will be also notified.
