A WRITER is hoping to play her part in the local arts scene by putting on her new work and setting up a scriptwriting group.
Maria Edey from Coleford has penned a Forest dialect play called Stuff ‘Em An’ Kipemsafe and is appealing for people to audition to appear in it and provide props.
“It’s a dark comedy about what happens when there’s no more room in the graveyards and people start getting their loved ones stuffed, and keep them at home,” said Ms Edey.
“I’m looking for performers to put the play on at the Baptist Church in Coleford and elsewhere.
“I also want to set up a scriptwriters’ group to work on stage, TV and radio scripts, so if anyone has any good ideas and wants to put pen to paper please get in touch, so we can develop them and put them on.”
The former Forest of Dean councillor said she would be applying for an Arts Council grant to get the group off the ground, and had been interviewed on Writers’ Room on Corinium Radio in Cirencester about her new work, which is due to air next month.
Anyone who wants to act in the production or join the new group should contact her on [email protected]
