MEMBERS of the Forest of Dean Commoners Association will decide who they should support as the next verderer for the Dean when they hold their annual meeting in Yorkley on Saturday evening

The commoners meet at the Nags Head, Yorkley at 7.30pm.

Chairman Mr Henry Mills said members will be asked who they should support as the new verderer at the election to be held at a County Court in Gloucester Cathedral on Tuesday, November 29 (11am).

Mr Mills said: "We have always regarded the role of a verderer as very important. We will decide who to support on Saturday and if there is sufficient demand we will hire transport to take members to the cathedral."

The vacancy has been created by the death of Mr A Melville R Watts.
