TWO friends rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in to clear up after fly-tippers struck near Caldicot.

Ross Howen and Joe Stephenson, who set up a community page for Caldicot on Facebook, spent some three hours removing building waste that had been dumped on the moors at Rogiet.

Mr Stephenson said: “It looks like somebody has had a new bathroom and whoever put in has just dumped the waste rather than take it to the council site.”

The friends went to the dump where they were advised to leave it for the council to clear.

Mr Stephenson said: “We didn’t think it was right to leave it there and leave it for the council so we went and did it ourselves.

“We removed two trailers full of waste and took it to the site at Caerwent.

“We started at about 11.30am and it took until about 2.30pm.

“We have put the pictures on the Facebook page and we hope somebody recognises the waste and we can identify who is responsible.”
