RESIDENTS in Soudley gave up their Sunday mornings to pick up litter in the woods and along the roadside verges around the village.

The annual litter pick is organised by Janet Ward and is in its fourth year. Janet says: “I was fed up with moaning about the amount of litter in the area and decided to take action. We have a lot of visitors at this time of year who come to see the bluebells, and enjoy the bluebell lunches provided by the ladies of the village over the May Bank Holiday weekend. We hope it shows our little patch of the Forest in a better light.

“There has been a fantastic response, with more than 20 volunteers this year, and a good turn out by the children. Strangely most people find it quite enjoyable.”
