I WOULD just like to give some feedback/advice for anyone regarding the recent computer hijack a local company experienced.

As someone who has a decent grounding in computer security, such problems are not very difficult to avoid, the problem is people who lack an understanding of basic security practices.

The most important things are to keep all software – especially Windows and Adobe Flash - up to date.

Keeping up to date off-line backups is also very important to mitigate the impact if a problem does surface, be it a security breach or hardware failure.

It is also good practice to never click on links in emails and never open attachments unless they were expected.

My point of view is that such problems usually happen because people don't know what they are doing and are setting themselves up for such problems to happen.
