A FATHER and son got their kicks at a national martial arts championship by both winning trophies.

Cinderford duo James Gilding, 42, and 12-year-old son Joshua attended the English Tae Kwon-Do Championships in Worcester earlier this month.

James won the bronze medal in the men’s ‘blue/red’ class heavyweight sparring category, while Josh matched him in the boys’ ‘red’ class heavyweight sparring.

Their instructor at Cinderford School of Tae Kwon-Do, 2nd Dan, Ken Penman, said: “Huge congratulations to James and Josh on your achievements at the English.”

The school, which is affiliated to the Tae Kwon-Do Association of GB, are now looking forward to their next competition outing, the Welsh Closed Championships in Newport on April 9.
