This year’s Kymin Dash raised £2,500 for it’s chosen charity Ty Hafan, with help from Barclays matched funding

The charity, which offers palliative care to children and support for their families throughout Wales, was nominated by a local resident who is a keen supporter of the race and lives near the starting point.

It’s one of the largest donations made since the annual event was resurrected by Spirit of Monmouth Running Club in 2013.

The cheque was presented to Helen Morgan from Ty Hafan at Barclays in Monmouth by staff members Emma King and Sue Clarke.

Blair Lundie, a Ty Hafan ambassador, was thanked for attending on race day to talk about the good work undertaken by the charity.

The Kymin Dash has so far donated £13,750 to different charities with assistance from Barclays and the organisers are hoping to exceed £20,000 by the race’s ten year anniversary in 2022.

All 350 places sold out in advance of race day for the first time this year, with runners of all abilities taking part. Perfect weather made for a very enjoyable day, with excellent feedback from everyone involved.

The seven mile route climbs the Kymin Road to the Round House then heads to Highmeadow Woods following the descent down to the River Wye and then the river back to Monmouth School Sports Club.

The challenge of the Dash combined with the breathtaking scenery makes it a memorable experience for all those who take part.

Race director Emma King is keen to thank fellow club members who sit on the race committee, her employer Barclays Bank for matching £1,000 of the amount raised on the day and colleague Sue Clarke for her involvement.

The race committee would also like to thank Monmouthshire Conservatory Company for sponsoring the T-Shirts presented to every runner, Walford Timber for the race numbers, Wild Trail for the post-race snacks and Dunn’s Engineering, as well as Monmouth School Sports Club, which provided the venue for race headquarters,

The date for 2020 has already been confirmed as Sunday 29th March and on line entry will open on Sunday December 1, 2019.
