A HISTORIAN will be delving into the world of trows, lodes, pills, reens, warths and clyses at a talk on the Severn Estuary next month.
Dr Martin Connop Price will be diving into the local dialect as part of the event organised by the Friends of Longhope Church at the village’s Latchen Room on Sunday, October 15.
He will be diving into the tidal Severn and its settlements, the Bore, its bridges, ferries and tunnels, plus its railways and the Romans.
You can find out which village has an elver eating contest, what the Purton hulks are, why the Gloucester and Berkeley Canal never reached Berkeley, and where the three National Shipyards were.
Dr Connop Price will be talking about all this and much more at an event hosted by The Friends of Longhope Church at The Latchen Room, Longhope on Sunday, October 15 at 4pm.
