A MILKWALL woman got more than she bargained for when she picked up a purse for 50p at a car boot sale.

Sandra Taylor says she bought the red purse from a man who had a "box full of bits and bobs" at the sale at the Speech House near Coleford.

It was only when she went to put her own items in the purse last Thursday that she noticed the back compartment contained items worth around £40.

Mrs Taylor said: "I couldn't believe it. I had bought it on Sunday but didn't notice the items until Thursday when I swapped purses to go shopping. I feel very uncomfortable knowing that these items aren't mine and I only paid 50pf or the purse – the purse is like brand new and I feel like a thief!

"I want to return the items to the rightful owner and if anybody recognises the purse they can contact me on 01594 832789."
