IN answer to Bryan Cooper’s letter in the September 11 issue, I “understand” the open borders question very well and  I totally disagree with his views on the subject.

Neither do I think that my standpoint is “unarguable” otherwise I would not have written to the Review in the first place.

I do not have a problem with the fact that people from other member states of the EU can come here to live. I suspect that the two million Brits living in France and Spain feel the same way and are an equal drain on their health services etc.

Furthermore, I do not feel that the British culture is being eroded. I feel that it is being enriched.

Mr Cooper must understand  that there is a fundamental difference between he  and myself on this subject  and that we would never agree, because we view the world so differently.
