THE lead singer of Forest band Dirtyboy – a group described as "set to be the biggest thing to come out of the woods since EMF" – is taking a break to have a baby.
"Anyone who has seen the band live will have been astonished at Becky's gravity-defying performances," said a band spokesman.
He added that a final chance to see Beck Borck and the band live is at the Monmouth Festival on Thursday, August 2 in the town centre, where they will be performing from around 8pm.
"Becky has sensibly decided that enough is enough and has now said that she will be taking time out from her stage antics to have her baby, which is due in September."
Becky herself laughs at all the fuss but is excited about both her new arrival and the group's growing success.
"We know that the baby is a little boy and he is going to be called Eric," she said, adding that it is a Viking name, as in Eric the Red, after her family surname. "My husband does have a red beard," she added.
She said it was really pleasing that the band had done so well after forming in February this year – their first big break was winning Coleford Music Festival's Battle of the Bands in May.
Many gigs followed with the press taking growing notice, leading up to the quote above from Gloucestershire entertainments magazine Spank.
Now news of the dance, funk and jazz provided by Becky, Chocs on guitar, bassist Doggin, Ben Williams on drums and Lee Hyett on keyboard is spreading wider, with interest calls from London, said Becky.
Dirtyboy hope to be back on the live scene early next year and in the meantime they are concentrating on writing some new songs and recording a second CD.
