IN response to the recent letter from Beryl Butcher regarding dog mess deposited next to her district nurse's car causing a great deal of unnecessary work and stress in cleaning it up.
We can sympathise with her as, over the years, we have written countless letters to the Press appealing to dog owners to be considerate and remove their dog poo from pavements, playing fields, etc but, alas, all the pleading in the world seems to fall on deaf ears in most cases.
It's obviously too much trouble and effort to bend down and remove the offending mess – far easier just to leave it, along with their conscience.
It does seem unfair that people who choose not to own a dog (25 per cent of households now own at least one) should have to suffer the unpleasantries associated with owning one.
On the subject of dogs, other people must be aware of the constant yapping and barking of dogs left outside all day, especially noticeable in the summer months. Where, oh where, has basic consideration gone?
Perhaps one solution might be to re-introduce a realistically-priced dog licence which could possibly go to funding dog patrol facilities.
