FARCE, topical comedy and pathos are the order of the day at the Savoy Theatre in Monmouth from this Thursday (March 9) to Saturday (March 11), as Off Centre Theatre stages its production of Duets with an award winning cast.
Spokesperson for Off Centre, Tony Summers, said: “Duets is a four act romantic comedy, set in the present day with each act featuring couples in various forms and stages of their relationship. The mix ranges from a brother and sister to a divorcing couple, and from first dates to unexpected liaisons.
“It also has a global flavour with the backdrops changing from Britain to the USA, with a touch of the Costa del Sol thrown in for good measure.
“The play was written by West End and Broadway playwright, Peter Quilter, whose plays have been performed in over 40 countries in many different languages. His most recent film success was the universally acclaimed Florence Foster Jenkins starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant.
“The play, directed by Phil Davies and Anne MacFarlane, has a strong cast and features both the best actor and best actress from the 2016 Hereford Festival.”
Off Centre Theatre is a Monmouth-based group, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year and has staged over 120 production since 1986. To get involved or find out about future events, visit www.offcentretheatre.org.uk
